‘Tis the season. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we’ve put together our list of five reasons creatives can be grateful:
1. New trends
Livestreaming and AR/VR advances have swarmed social media and technology. The capacity to capture and transmit images as they’re happening has made a breakthrough in several apps and internet sites. Most notably, Instagram’s live 24-hour story feature, similar to that of SnapChat’s, became a trend this year. We’re thankful for the possibilities to share, record, and promote with the click of a button. We’re also grateful for new virtual realities we can utilize now (see Alternate Realities in a Very Real World) and we’re excited for what’s to come.
2. Being known as the go-to “Design Guru”
Artists obviously have a lot more responsibility than just producing masterpieces. Yet, it is fun to be able to brag to your friends about your mad skills in xyz. We are the reliable creative, the king/queen of Adobe products, and the go-to person for any project, no matter how small or large. Not to mention, we can do this while interacting with clients, managing various projects and timelines, and finding ways to express your creativity outside of our profession–talk about being a Jack (or Jill) of all trades.
3. The Adobe Creative Cloud
Being a designer without Adobe products would be like being a musician without an instrument. Creatives today are grateful for their ability to not only use the tried-and-true programs like Illustrator and Photoshop, but also access their new applications like Adobe XD and Dimension. 4. Living the dream.
Creatives are innovators. We get to dream about the future, call to act, create, and advocate the true significance of design. This holiday season, we’re grateful for a simple reason–being in this field and the ability implement our passions into practice.
