May the 4th Be With You

Star Wars nerds unite and May the fourth be with you! Over the last decade, companies of all kinds (and not just Disney) have been taking advantage of this niche celebration to promote their services. Here are a few of our favorite campaign examples over the past few years:

  1. Dominos

Dominos Pizza is not only promoting recycling by constructing a stormtrooper out of pizza boxes, they’re also being playful with their tagline, “You could say the Force is with us.”

  1.  Jameson

Experience the power of this Irish whiskey when you open the bottle.

  1. Taco Bell

If you don’t get it, you’re not a fan.

  1. Quiznos

This year, are you going to join the Dark Side? Quiznos thinks you should.

  1. Cinnabon

Cinnabon features their product in an artistic, thematic way. Their marketing strategy works here because they are putting all the attention on their own tasty treat with the help of an iconic character.

  1. Amazon

Amazon is on board with May 4th by featuring this product on their homepage.

  1. NASA

Who better to promote Star Wars Day than the National Aeronautics and Space Administration themselves? Check out the Tumblr post, here. They ask in this post, “Are your favorite #StarWars planets among the 3,400 real planets we’ve found so far? Find out.” Explore space and learn about Star Wars all in one post.

  1. Discover Ireland

What better way to promote tourism than showing some of the beautiful set locations for Star Wars? Discover Ireland is connecting that theme to their market.

  1. LinkedIn

Looking for a job? Take advice from Yoda.

  1. Legos

Of course, Legos would participate in this happy occasion by showcasing their thematic products in this short video. Build away.
